SPECIAL WORDS OF RECOGNITION: THESE 2 GUYS ACCOMPLISHED SOMETHING QUITE BRILLIANT
WHAT MAKES IT BRILLIANT?
We think it’s a mixture of: something very hard being attained by people that from a distance appear as “machines” or “different from us”, but the reality is they are not. What may appear as too hard, impossible, or another superlative, when broken down into its constituent elements becomes achievable. Joan is not a superman. He did not accomplish this easily. We saw Joan endure some tough moments.
Preparation, planning, training, reflection, more training, adjustment, planning, more training, a lot more training(!) were the ingredients behind this achievement. Joan is very fortunate to have a friend like Nicolas Marchildon that thought it would be a great idea to pedal 250 km supporting and helping his friend, and out of the limelight. And that erhaps is another aspect that makes Joan a little bit special… The fact that when we got the call from him to support him in this endeavour, it must have taken all of 3 seconds to reflect and then say “Yes! We’re in!” I guess some would call it the power of inspiration and self-belief.
